Is a solar thermal system suitable for my home?

A south facing roof is the optimum position to maximise the efficiency of solar panels / collectors. Typically you will typically need around 4-6m2 of roof space facing anywhere from east to west.

Is my current boiler suitable for use with Solar Thermal heating?

Although you will likely need space for a bigger hot water cylinder, many standard boilers and hot water systems can be used alongside our solar thermal systems. A solar thermal system however may not be suited to your home if you have an existing combi-boiler.

Is planning permission needed for a solar system installation?

You will only usually require permission if your building is listed, in a conservation area or world heritage site. Most Solar Thermal systems can be installed without planning permission.

How much will a solar thermal system cost? *

The answer to this will obviously depend on your current heating system and needs. As a guideline, a typical solar thermal system may cost as little as between £5,500 to £6,500.

We cannot stress the importance of selecting an MCS accredited engineer to install  - and correctly configure the solar system. With a correctly configured system - you should start to see an effective reduction in your hot water costs immediately.  Depending on the system you choose and the position of your home, you could produce up to 70% of your hot water for free.
