Renewable Heat Premium Payments Scheme
The Renewable Heat Premium Payment Scheme will run from 1st August 2011 to 31st March 2012 and is designed to help renewable energy technologies such as solar thermal panels, air source heat pumps and ground source heat pumps more affordable.As from next year the renewable heat incentive will cover the domestic sector, so this is a short term scheme to allow the Government to learn more about the uptake of these technologies.

Who is eligible ?
The scheme applies to householders in England, Scotland and Wales according to the following guidelines :
- Any householder in England, Scotland and Wales can apply for solar thermal products.
- Householders without gas central heating, or are reliant on fuels such as oil, liquid gas, solid fuel or electricity can apply for heat pump products are eligible
- The property must be owned by you or if you are a tenant must be purchased by yourself and have permission from the property owner
- Property must have loft insulation to 250 mm and cavity wall insulation (where practical)
- The product and installer you go with must be certified under MCS for solar thermal products
What is the value of the grants ?

- £300 - Solar thermal panels
voucher valid for three months

- £850 - Air source heat pump
voucher valid for 5 months
|

|
- £1250 Ground source / water source heat pump
Voucher valid for 6 months

All installations must be completed and vouchers redeemed by their expiry date. No vouchers will be valid beyond 31st March 2012
How to apply ?
Anyone can apply from 1st August via the Energy Saving Trust. (Renewable Heat Premium Payments page) If you meet the criteria you will receive a voucher to be redeemed within a set number of months and by returning a signed version with a copy of the invoice and certificate from the microgeneration scheme. The money will then be credited into your back account.
Will I still qualify for the Renewable Heat Incentive when it applies to domestic installations in 2012?
Yes, whether installed with our without premium payment assistance, all renewable energy technology systems that have been installed since 15 July 2009 and meet the required installation criteria will be eligible for support through RHI
