Air Source Heating Systems

The Green Energy Team provides comprehensive MCS approved, renewable energy heat pump installation solutions. From ‘intelligent’ air, air to water and and ground source  heating, The Green Energy Team can provide you with an effective renewable energy heating solution.

Renewable Air Source HeatingAn air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air, raises this heat to a higher temperature and the distributes the warmth around the house using either under floor circuits or standard radiators.

The air source system works like an air conditioning system in reverse and is operated by electricity. However with the clever use of internal heat pump, electricity consumption of kilowatts generated can be up to 5 kilowatts of heat !

Air source heat pump systems meet and exceed CO2 reduction targets required by the current building regulations and helps achieve a 3 start rating in the code for sustainable homes.

With upward spiralling energy costs and advances in renewable heating technologies, air source heat pumps are now positioned as a viable and realistic alternative to the conventional fossil fuel systems - PLUS the UK Government ‘Renewable Heat Incentive’ means that you can also make money from having an eco heating system installed ...

Renewable Heat Premium PaymentsTypes of air source heating systems

Air-to-Air Heat Pumps
Release the captured energy through an air heat exchanger, which is then forced by fan around the building through trunking or directly into the room.

Air-to-Water Heat Pumps
Release the energy into a water circuit which is then used in a wet heating system (i.e. radiators or underfloor heating)

Being MCS, REAL Assurance and REIGA Approved installers, The Green Energy Team can only specify and install heat pump systems by manufacturers themselves accredited to meet renewable energy industry criteria and government compliance. Blueflame’s Green Energy Team engineers are therefore also approved installers of Daikin Altherma and Mitsubishi Ecodan and Grant UK renewable heating systems.

Air  Source Heat Pump Installation

A heat pump system will be configured in a similar way to a conventional type of heating system. Systems range from having a single outdoor unit  containing  all components (for lower temperature output) to splitting the system with an internal appliance, installed in place of a boiler (for higher temperature output) and an external condenser unit on the outside of the property. Flexible split systems are also available for new buildings. The system is connected to the hot water cylinder and radiator (or under-floor heating) circuits in the normal way.

To further enhance the efficiency of an air source heat pump system, you can include a solar thermal panel system to provide the optimum in fuel economy.

Although the installation of a renewable energy source heating system covers a number of disciplines, The Green Energy Team provide their own engineers accredited to install not only heat pump systems, but also refrigeration and electrical installation - the entire installation project will be completed by the Green Energy Team with no subcontractor involvement. This further ensures work completed to the highest standard throughout.

Air Source Heat Pump Benefits

  • Cost effective installation

  • Low energy consumption

  • 30 - 50 % reduction in CO2 emissions   (See the Act on CO2 Carbon Footprint calculator)

  • Even higher cost savings and CO2 reductions with under floor heating installations

  • Helps to achieve Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable homes - adding value for your property

  • Performance unaffected by cooler (UK) climates - providing heat / hot water year round

  • No gas supply, flues or ventilation required

  • No extensive ground works

  • Low running costs

  • Low maintenance costs

  • Low operational noise levels
